Squamish Wedding Photography | Bryan & Shannon

Squamish Wedding Photography

Whenever we’re invited to do Squamish wedding photography we jump at the chance – especially for a couple as vibrant as Bryan and Shannon. The stunning views are the perfect backdrop for a couple’s big day and we had already shot the couple’s engagement photos in Squamish, so it was fitting to return to the area as they made it official.

A sign of the fun to come, the gents got ready in style and toasted to the big day, while the ladies took over the Executive Inn Hotel & Suites, which made a classic setting for the bridal party’s preparation and the first look between bride and groom.

The couple’s sense of timeless style with contemporary details and special touches made the wedding party’s look seamless and effortless. Bridesmaids dressed in sparkly sequinned cocktail dresses that serendipitously were all the perfect shades of black, gold, and rose while the groom sported his grandfather’s bulldozer cufflinks and the bride accessorized with her Baba’s lavish diamond ring.

When Bryan and Shannon were ready for their first look before the ceremony, their anticipation and excitement was palpable. The groom nervously practiced his speech as he waited anxiously for his bride to arrive. As he turned and saw her for the first time Bryan was overcome with emotion and could not wipe the smile off of his face. There’s probably nothing more touching than capturing moments like these.

The rest of the family and bridal party joined Bryan and Shannon shortly after. With the sun beating down (almost everyone left a little more pink!) the sense of humour and smiles were out in full force, with the groomsmen even chasing some wild geese… boys will be boys!

Bryan and Shannon’s sense of playfulness continued throughout the ceremony. Ring bearers were replaced with “ring security” and when the priest accidentally asked Shannon to recite her vows as “I, Sharon…” she took it in stride. Later, as the priest then realized he forgot the marriage license in another room and had to go retrieve it, a guest yelled out “way to go, Sharon!” leading the whole church to erupt in laughter. A sense of humour is a great quality at a wedding, and even better in a marriage.

With all the formalities behind them, it was time for the festivities to begin! The reception was held at Howe Sound Brewery where sparkly and timeless details continued thematically throughout the venue.

Shannon’s cousins emceed, and speeches poured in from close friends and relatives. The groom’s mother had the toast of the night – having the audience laughing so hard with her tales from Bryan’s youth you could have called it a roast as much as a toast! The couple also received a beautiful braided Ukrainian bread, weaving in even more family tradition, and Shannon’s sisters gave a warm and heartfelt toast that left her in tears.

Glowing from the warmth of their friends and family, the couple enjoyed their first dance before inviting their parents, and then guests to join them. We can safely call that night one of the most epic wedding dance parties we’ve ever witnessed. With 90’s hits from Tu Pac to Spice Girls, everyone was on the floor and busting out their best moves.

Bryan and Shannon’s wedding was as heartfelt and meaningful as it was gorgeous. The success in our Squamish wedding photography was effortless with not only the majestic backdrops and a magnetic couple, but with friends and family committed to bring laughter, love and energy to the big day.

Congratulations, Bryan and Shannon!
