Last fall we captured Erin and Rochelle’s engagement in Queen Elizabeth Park. The golden backdrop of the leaves and the cozy couple drew out their love story – a modern meeting for this family-oriented couple. As we did their Kelowna wedding photography, we learned even more about this beautiful couple’s story.
A click of a mouse, a meeting over tea, and the rest, as they say, is history. Erin and Rochelle are one of those couples who seem so perfect for one another that the fact that they met online is a ringing endorsement of the whole industry.
With Erin’s family in Kelowna, the couple chose to marry in the beautiful Okanagan – fitting, as that’s where they got engaged and their journey as husband and wife would begin.
Rochelle described the proposal as picture-perfect, almost out of a fairytale. The day of their Kelowna wedding at Little Straw Vineyards and Kelowna Golf and Country Club however, would prove to be slightly more challenging. The day started out looking gorgeous, but by the time the first look was over and we started the wedding party photos we felt the first drops.
Before you knew it, it was pouring rain. Not a drizzle, but an absolute downpour. And the rain didn’t cease until the wedding party left, with the sun only peaking out from behind the clouds as the bride and groom’s photos were done.
Just as in their marriage Rochelle and Erin will weather storms, the testament to their relationship is how they handle it, and this couple was not going to let a little rain get in the way of their big day.
The warmth from the family made the day feel special and bright. Their dog, Quincy, a miniature schnauzer, was in the wedding party. Erin and his grandmother did the chicken dance. There were beautiful and touches all around.
It was a true family affair. Erin and Rochelle’s marriage is just beginning, but choosing Kelowna for their wedding made the day extra special, filled with Erin’s ties to the Okanagan and bridging the two chapters in the couple’s lives.
