Squamish Engagement Photography Session with Bryan and Shannon

How it all began:

It all started 3 years before our Squamish engagement photography session in the summer of 2012 when Bryan attended a North Vancouver wedding as his friend Matt’s plus-one. When it came time to party, Bryan and Matt snuck out to the pub next door looking for girls to invite back to dance with them. That is where he met Shannon along with two of her friends. Initially reluctant to join them, the girls eventually gave in and spent the night dancing with them. At the end of the evening Shannon and her friends tried to sneak out but Bryan ran after them and convinced Shannon to give him her number, even though he was leaving on an European vacation the next day.

Six weeks later, Bryan returned from his trip to Europe, and a chance encounter at the Vancouver Costco would have them meet again. It would take one more chance encounter and a little persistence, but soon Shannon agreed to their first date – a seawall walk on a sunny autumn afternoon.

After almost a year of dating, Bryan and Shannon moved in together and Bryan started planning his proposal. On Christmas Eve, with everyone gathered at Shannon’s family home, Bryan lead Shannon outside and away from the festivities for his surprise romantic proposal. She said yes and they spent the rest of the evening celebrating with family, making their 2014 Christmas a very memorable one.

Squamish Engagement Photography Session:

As Bryan and Shannon have planned their wedding in Squamish for summer 2016, we all felt a Squamish engagement photography session in the fall would be perfect for a seasonal contrast to their wedding photography. We started our day at the aptly named Shannon Falls which we joked were named after Shannon because of their majestic beauty.

Next we moved on to the Squamish Spit, a narrow piece of land located at the mouth of the Squamish River as it enters Howe Sound. Shooting at the Squamish Spit provided us with a stunning location where wind, water and land merged in a perfect backdrop. That day the dramatic overcast skies made it an amazing second shooting location for their Squamish engagement photography session.

Without a doubt, Lachlan, and Emily, you have captured the emotions and tenderness of two people in love against the ruggedness in the background. These pictures of my dear son and his bride to be have made my heart soar. The pictures are exquisite and show the brilliant talent you both have in photography.
